Byron Solar Train

Byron Bay Railroad Company Ltd, a not-for-profit accredited heritage rail organisation owned by the people behind Elements of Byron resort, reinstated a train service between Sunrise Beach, just outside Elements of Byron Resort and Byron Bay township. This is the world’s first and only fully solar powered full-sized train. We took our first passengers on 16 December 2017.

The train services residents of Sunrise Beach, residents and businesses within the Byron Arts Estate, guests of Elements of Byron Resort, residents in the Byron township and visitors to Byron Bay. All costs of repairing and maintaining the track, refurbishing and converting the train to solar power and operating the train are borne by Byron Bay Railroad Company Ltd.
